Alexandra Kay

When I found out about the divorce, I heard about this Country Music Artist named, Alexandra Kay.  She went through a divorce herself and wrote a whole album about her experiences.  It became my staple when listening to music.  I could not get enough.  I connected with her and her music.  Although there was one vast difference, she left her husband where mine left me.

One day, she posted that she was going on tour again.  She was going to Colorado Springs.  That was the closest thing to Salt Lake City.  I tossed around the idea of going out there.  And when it came time for tickets to go on sale, I bought that concert ticket.  Then I booked my flight, car rental and hotel.  I could not believe I was going to this.  I guess that is one thing about being divorced.  I decide what I am going to do and when.  And I decided just to do it.  (kind of similar to my Germany trip I took in February).

I have worked a lot of concerts over the years.  But I rarely go to any.  To show my age, my very first concert was Richard Marx back when I was 18 years old.  I went with my cousin as she had an extra ticket.  I also went to Carrie Underwood with my Ex.  I was so sick, I could not really enjoy it.  So sick, I almost stayed home.  Then two summers ago, I went to The Jonas Brothers Concert.  I didn't know many songs.  I went with my daughter, E.  Her friend and her mom were going so we all four went together.  That is the extent of my concert days, besides  the hundreds of concerts I have worked over the years.

Now I was flying to another state and attending a concert all by myself.  Who does this sort of thing?  I guess I do!  Alexandra Kay offers free Meet and Greet tickets.  Only 150 per show!  And I was lucky enough to get one.  I showed up a little before doors opened.  Stood in line all by myself.  Feeling a bit funny while everyone else was with their friends and families.  But doing things a lone has become so much easier over the years.  Doesn't mean I don't feel out of place sometimes.  And doesn't mean it could be way more fun experiencing it with someone else by my side.  But I won't let it stop me like I would have years ago.

I bought all the stuff.  Cowboy boots, Boot earrings.  And a blouse in my new favorite color,  Pink!

Concert was at the Boot Barn Hall.  Doors opened at 5pm.  Concert started at 8pm.  First stop once the doors opened was the merchandise stand.  I decided to buy a sweatshirt.  Then, it was time to meet Alexandra Kay.  She is the most down to earth person.  Very humble and Kind.  And I think those are some reasons she is so loved by everyone who knows her.  Seeing her, hugging her. (she hugs each person she meets!)  It was just what my heart needed and I did not know it.

Afterwards, I was escorted to my seat.  They had tables of 8 chairs.  One thing about Alexandra Kay being an independent artist, it was a smaller event and smaller venue.  More intimate.  I was so close to the stage.   I knew almost every song.  I recorded a lot on my phone.    And cried during a few songs.

After the concert, it made me realize I wanted to see her again!  I'm totally obsessed!  So I started looking up what concerts she had left on her tour.  I don't know that I can really go anywhere else.  But it made a lasting impression on me.  She didn't break my heart.  But spending the evening with her helped heal it!

Welcome to The Traveling Wheels Blog

Hi!  I am new here.  Well, not really new to the blogging world.  But it has been a good 13 years since I did that.  My name is Tamara.  I have always had a passion for traveling.  When I was in middle school, I remember we were to pick out careers we wanted to go into.  I chose a Flight Attendant.  I never did become that flight attendant,  I have toyed over the last couple years if I want to pursue that still.  But right now, I need to stay put and be a mom while my youngest finishes out High School.  So I never say never.  But I did work for an airline and also for a Travel Agency before I had kids. Like I said, I love all things travel.  I have traveled to many countries.  I even lived abroad for almost 8 years.  I love to cruise.  I have lost count on how many I have been on.  I do road trips, camping.  I just love being out and about seeing this beautiful world.  If I go hiking, yo...

Renting out a Room

As you know, I work in Healthcare at a Hospital.  There are lots of Healthcare workers who travel.  They usually have 13 week contracts and then move to another place to work.  They get paid nicely for traveling.  Well, I started getting my house ready to rent out a room to a traveling Healthcare worker.  I took my daughters old room.  And I added a few things to make it nicer.  Starting with a bed frame.  Her bed used to just sit on the floor.  I added Night Stands, a desk, Roku to the TV that is mounted on the wall.  I also added a mini fridge, Microwave, Coffee Pot, Toaster all on a bakers rack.  And I added pictures to the walls.  It really looks so nice.  I bought new bedding for the bed as well plus new towels.   Last night, we had our first traveling Scrub Tech move in.  I am hopeful this will be a good experience.  And I have one more room in my house that I am almost done getting ready to rent out a...
